Fat Tuesday Pancake Fundraiser

Chris Cakes Coming to VUMC on February 21

("Mardi Gras" aka “Fat Tuesday”)!

You have probably heard of "Mardi Gras”, but what is it? In places like New Orleans, Mardi Gras refers to the end of a carnival celebration that culminates on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday.” This day is also traditionally referred to as "Shrove Tuesday” when the faithful confess of their sins, presumably after they gorge on rich, fatty foods before fasting during the season of Lent. This year “Fat Tuesday” is on Feb. 21, and VUMC will be celebrating by inviting the community for food and fellowship (5 to 7 p.m.) with hot pancakes catered by Chris Cakes of Michigan. This is sure to be a great, delicious, fun, entertaining time for young and old — anybody who’s hungry! Invite family, friends, and friends of friends! All are invited! Free-will offerings and gratuities are very appreciated.

Let’s eat together before Lent!
